Revenge crucial for Hekari
By BURI GABI

REVENGE seems like best way current PNG soccer kings Hekari United can keep their finals hopes alive in the Oceania-League challenge when they host Koloale FC from Solomon Islands in Port Moresby on March 7.

Hekari have struck the winning form at the right time and will be looking for a repeat doze like the shocking win they inflicted on Ba from Fiji in their last O-League encounter in Fiji a fortnight ago.

Striker Kema Jack, David Muta, Joachim Waroi, Brian Iniga, Fijian imports Lorima Dau and Veresa Toma will be working hard for a similar result against Solomon Islanders Koloale.
Hekari have an outside chance of making the finals if they beat Koloale FC, who beat them 2-1 in their first meeting in Honiara.

However a Hekari win in Port Moresby will not have any bearing unless the ensuring game between Koloale and Ba pans out in their favour.

Hekari currently sits in third spot with 3 points and Fiji’s Ba and Solomon’s Koloale leading pool B with 4 points apiece.

Should Hekari win moving them to 6 points, they would have to hope that the Koloale and Ba game ends in a draw (5 points apiece).

Hekari Souths United manageress Vonnie Kapinatto is relying heavily on these players to overcome Koloale who are known for their speed and skillful ball movement.

“But we have the upper hand with home ground advantage and support to keep Hekari going in the match.” Vonnie also hinted that the management and coach have come up with a positional change with striker Kema Jack moving to right flank as was the case in the match against Fiji’s BA.

She said they didn’t know that the positional change would be good for Kema but were glad that it paid the dividends against Ba.

Vonnie wants her boys to be loyal, honest and play disciplined football.

These are basic areas they lacked in the game against Koloale.

“It is going to be a big plus for us if we win this game against Koloale to lead the competition and have a chance of securing a finals spot,” Vonnie said. She said there is no injury concerns for her boys and are looking forward for the match.
