More team work encouraged in Simbu
By JAMES KILA

MORE team-work needs to be encouraged in order for better services delivery in Simbu province. Acting Provincial Administrator, Joe Kunda issue the call last week at the closure of a two-day Provincial 2008 Performance Review Forum in Kundiawa.

The forum was formally closed by the Director - Programme Management division of the Department of Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs, Julius Wargirai Mr Kunda said the forum was for government agencies and other development partners to present reports on their performances in 2008 and draw from each other views on how best to deliver services in the province.

Mr Kunda said 2009 must be seen as a year of implementation and everyone in the province especially the stakeholders must re-align themselves in order for services to be better delivered. "We need to achieve results this year," Mr Kunda said.

He said Simbu has been selected as one of five pilot provinces to model of services delivery initiated by the Government's Service Improvement Programme (SIP).

He encouraged district administrators, provincial advisors and other state agencies officials to network and share resources in order that services is better implemented.

He also encouraged district administrators to provide good advice to MPs so that projects are better implemented. Simbu provincial government representative and president of the Karimui LLG, Matan Nepi commended the organisers of the forum saying it was the first time for such forum to be staged in order that all government agencies share their work experiences, including achievements and constraints. Mr Nepi said people are the ones that matter most therefore implementers must make sure their programs and projects are properly designed to cater for the masses.

"I represent the political wing in the provincial government, you are the implementers and we all need to see that projects are carried out for the best interest of the people," he said.
