Chief's grand gift to Enga

GRAND Chief Sir Michael Somare gave K142 million to the people of Enga province for various tangible projects and services improvements on Thursday at Wabag Primary School.

The money was given to each of Enga's five districts.

Sir Michael, before handing over the money to each MP told the people to keep away from tribal fights and maintain peace and harmony in the province to see more services delivery.
He told the people that peace must at all times be maintained so that more developments can take place in their province.

Sir Michael presented cheques worth K10 million to the Enga provincial government to Governor Peter Ipatas;

Wapenamanda District K14 million; Kandep District K30 million;

Wabag District K25.8 million;

K12.7 million to Kompiam-Ambum and Lagaip-Porgera K36.9 million.
All the money was received by their MPs representing the districts.

At the same time a K30 million ADB and PNG government funded town water project was officially opened at Wabag district. Sir Michael also gave the Wabag Primary School K600,000 to build a new classroom and library complex. He also allocated K2million to bid for connection of electricity into the villages near the township of Wabag.

The Chief gave a K5 million cheque for the new community college project at Wabag District.
The agriculture sector also received aid from the government to such impact projects like the promotion of coffee and cattle in the province.
